The Digital Merchandiser plays a critical role in bringing the Royal Canin and Eukanuba portfolio to life online across our ecommerce retailer websites and will be responsible for shaping how shoppers learn and engage with our brands online. The associate will initiate new item set up where applicable and be responsible for best-in-class content across the portfolio of brands on a variety of e-retailer sites. The associate will focus on winning the algorithm through optimizing content for search based on defined keywords and driving progress in Perfect Digital Store (PDS). This associate will be a critical input into the digital commerce center, as it relates to the voice of retailers and strategic changes and initiatives within content and process, and own responsibilities in areas like creation and implementation of higher-level search, taxonomy, and variation strategies, and formalizing processes to drive best in class approaches across organization.

This is a remote role with a preference for someone to be based at a Royal Canin Site (St. Louis, Nashville, New York)

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree, minimum of 2 year experience in digital commerce and or digital merchandising roles
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ambiguous environment
  • Reporting and analytics experience
  • Good communication skills to educate & report across metrics
  • Advanced with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SEO
  • Balanced analytical/conceptual skills to understand and then optimize page performance.
  • Proven project management skills, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Experience with building collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in managing brand portfolios of products online
  • Have strong understanding of eCommerce landscape
  • Ability to benchmark market best practices in search, placement, content & ratings/review.
  • Understanding with Salsify and Smartsheet
  • Understand core business metrics and how these can be influenced through online merchandising
  • Customer experience is preferred but not required

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • End to end process management of new item set up, and management of existing items as needed (renovation and discontinuation), and on-going catalog management & maintenance
  • Drive Perfect Digital Store (PDS) improvements across retailers’ pages, focused on perfect page (image content, enhanced content, search content, video, & ratings and reviews where applicable), leveraging tools such as Salsify, CIQ, and Power BI as needed
  • Develop strategies to win the customer algorithm and create SEO optimized content by coordinating with brand teams, shopper marketing, sales, agencies, and retailers.
  • Partner with Central Content & Marketing to provide insight into development of content for new products, highlight new claims, item transitions, and discontinued product transition as well as ensure products are live and updated on retailers’ websites at the respective launch/discontinuation dates.
  • Aid in development and implement test & learns to inform strategies and actions
  • Bring forward insights for our portfolio of brands by analyzing competitors’ content, search & merchandising strategy around key criteria: content quality, integrity, ratings, and reviews & search.
  • Optimize and make recommendations around keyword development & optimization and maintain an active awareness on industry trends as well as search best practices.
  • Act as a strategic thought leader during key customer meetings (including JPBs), delivering insights, trends, and digital growth opportunities.
  • Lead digital education efforts for both internal teams and external retail customers, helping to elevate digital maturity and understanding of digital capabilities & omnichannel tools.
  • Lead special projects like Mobile Images, Content Playbooks, Ratings & Reviews, etc to drive digital muscle with brand and portfolio teams.
