General Accounting

Location: Castle Cary or Aimargues   

Join our fast-growing European Key Accounts (EKA) team and help shape the future of how we partner with Europe’s leading online retailers.

As General Accountant, you’ll play a key role in keeping our finances accurate, compliant, and well-controlled. You’ll take ownership of period-end closing, support audits and tax processes, and bring additional expertise in areas like payroll, governance, or ERP (Navision) to strengthen our Finance capability.

This is a new role, giving you the chance to help define processes and ways of working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial business unit.

What are we looking for?

• Proven experience in accounting roles (general ledger, reporting, or audit).
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and internal control frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written).
• A collaborative mindset with attention to detail and integrity.
• Expertise in payroll, governance, or ERP (Navision) as a key user.
• Experience working in international or cross-functional teams.

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with Mars GAAP.
• Support audits and regulatory processes with accurate data and documentation.
• Lead period-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Provide accurate inputs for VAT and tax processes, ensuring timely and compliant submissions.
• Contribute to cross-functional projects by applying accounting expertise and improving ERP (Navision) usage.
• Identify and implement opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen controls.
