Job purpose/overview:

  • Regulatory Affairs maximizes opportunities & minimizes risk by guiding business decisions based on scientific & regulatory insight and provide appropriate governance structures.

  • The Royal Canin Gimje (RGY) site Regulatory Affairs Manager belongs to the APAC Regulatory Affairs team. He/she also belongs to Royal Canin Global Regulatory Affairs team and community promoting the best practice sharing, establishing the processes & systems, and the consistent application of Mars Petcare and Royal Canin policies.

  • The objective is to ensure regulatory & trade compliance of ingredients, products, processes, packaging. Also trade facilitation of existing and new supply markets, and related regulatory advocacy to unlock barriers to enable key raw materials and finished products supply security for the factory ramp up as APAC Supply Hub producing 160K ton/year, with ambition to supply +20 countries. He/She ensures the appropriate level of engagement for Royal Canin RGY site with critical external stakeholders of public domain that includes but is not limited to Trade Association, local and central authorities and public bodies responsible for market regulations.

What will be your key responsibilities?

The job holder is in principal responsible for Regulatory Affairs activities that concern Royal Canin Korea - APAC factory (RGY)

  • Ensure compliance on RGY products with product-related regulation, including but not limited to: Ingredients, labeling, packaging, import and export requirements

  • Monitor relevant regulations for products and site compliance

  • Build & lead the regulatory technical advocacy strategy in short to long term, with right external & internal stakeholder mapping to secure the RM/FP trade flow of the factory

  • Facilitate RGY trade for new and existing supply markets, and support incoming requests from markets sourcing from the RGY (e.g. renewal of site approval and products registration)

  • Secure key ingredients for factory ramp up of four production lines to produce iconic RC products, as well as critical raw material security for the mass production

  • Engage with local authorities (MoA, vet authority) and Trade Association (KFA, KITA) to advocate on behalf of our strategies for RM & FP supply, also maximize local network & influence authority for advocacy effort with Korea market as One Mars Regulatory Advocacy

  • Represent Regulatory affairs to formally feed the regulatory Risk & Opportunities into RGY supply forums

  • Be part of strategic discussions as partner for VCO to provide regulatory insights, in building the factory future network strategy

PRODUCTS AND OPERATIONS REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

  • Provide an interpretation at a detailed level of new and current regulations from the countries supplied by RGY, the implications on the use of our ingredients, their process, origin, recipes and labeling

  • Provide insight and strategic direction to regional RA, supply chain, and commercial for RM & FP supply planning and directions.

  • Ensure RM compliance by leading “Raw materials regulatory assessment” with supply markets

  • Ensure international package compliance with markets with language on pack for labeling/claims

  • Provide technical expertise, management, and support to resolve RA, Quality and related incidents, providing regulatory risk assessment to PRIMPs, including establishing access to external networks, expert resources, and control authorities.

  • Secure close cooperation between Corporate Affairs, Quality & Food Safety, Legal and Supply Chain functions in terms of regulatory, compliance and public affairs initiatives.

RGY TRADE FACILITATION & ADVOCACY

  • Drive the regulatory technical advocacy strategy to secure RM & FP flow, aligned with RGY future plans

  • Represent Royal Canin interests in relevant government & Trade Associations technical working groups

  • Manage key int/ext stakeholders for effective influencing & networking around RGY

  • Liaise with supply market RAs to capture risk & opps in supply from RGY and prepare mitigating actions & advocacy strategy

  • Manage change management for market access - site/product registration & permit renewals for the freedom to operate Manage dossier for RGY plant, products registration, trade documents (Health certificates, declarations…)

  • Provide the plant or product related technical information in accordance with request from importing markets

Job Specifications/Qualifications

  • B.S. in a technical area, such as food science, veterinary medicine, food safety, chemistry, toxicology, nutrition, or other biological science and / or International Relations.

  • 5+ years of experience in Regulatory Affairs, International Trade, Public Affairs / Government Relations.

  • Great understanding and working knowledge of nutrition and pet food law and regulatory frameworks.

  • Great communication skills, fluent in English is mandatory.

KEY FUNCTIONAL CAPABILITIES:

  • Ability to voice on behalf of regulatory affairs function in diverse forums with senior leaders in presence internally & externally

  • Manage a community of cross functional experts with the right level of topic relevant technical inputs

  • Capture regulatory risk & opportunities to inform business stakeholders in right time/stage/audience

  • Ability to craft complex technical data into simple, relevant and meaningful influence strategies, able to articulate a public policy agenda in trade-related topics.

  • Ability to inform, report and share updates within the company in the appropriate forums

  • Good understanding of key Nutrition or Science concepts to ensure proper execution of all Regulatory Affairs / Government Relations.

  • Leadership and ability to collaborate across functions and cultures.

  • Excellent project management / organization skills, combined with the ability to handle many tasks simultaneously working under pressure and delivering within tight deadline
