The Packaging Operator will be a multi-skilled packing associate who is responsible for achieving maximum efficiency of our packing lines whilst ensuring the highest safety and quality standards are maintained. The Packaging Operator will also play a pivotal role in identifying and delivering continuous improvement projects within the packaging hall.
Shift: This role will be a night position on D-Shift.
- All positions are 12-hour schedules.
- 4-days on and 4-days off set schedule.
- Nights: 6:00 pm to 6:30 am
- Days: 6:00 am to 6:30 pm
What are we looking for?
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in food manufacturing environment and operating high speed packing machines.
- Mechanical background desirable, but not essential
- Ability to multi-task
What will be your key responsibilities?
The Packaging Operator is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of automated packing machines.
Key duties include:
- Machine Setup and Maintenance: Setting up automated packing machines, loading packing materials, making machine adjustments, and ensuring proper sanitation.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Clearing machine jams, reworking defective packaging, troubleshooting machine faults, and maintaining glue and ink supplies.
- Quality Assurance: Performing and documenting quality checks throughout the packaging process. Ensures compliance with all Quality, Food Safety, and Legislative standards.
- Safety Practices: Following safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, to safely conduct equipment operations and routine maintenance.
- Equipment Management: Completing Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication (CIL) tasks according to daily, weekly, and monthly schedules to maintain equipment functionality and cleanliness.
- This role demands attention to detail, adherence to safety and quality standards, and the ability to manage equipment autonomously.
- The position holder is trained to perform other jobs consistent with the skill level and physical demands of this position.
