As Pet Caretaker at Mars, you will work in a team environment to provide daily care and management for the pets.
What are we looking for?
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
1-3 years' experience interacting with cats or dogs.
Knowledge in animal facility operations
Knowledge of animal health and management issues.
Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds, work both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in basic grooming or training.
Experience working in an animal facility or animal hospital.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Complete daily cleaning for primary and secondary housing areas within the PHNC in accordance with SOPs, Animal Welfare Act, and Mars standards.
- Implement environmental enrichment, exercise, socialization and grooming programs in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Evaluate pet health (both mental and physical) for any veterinary and/or enrichment needs. Assisting the Health Care Team in treatment and research collections as needed.
- Perform animal behavior and obedience training following the Mars Standards. This includes implementing behavior modification plans, training for research facilities, and support for rehoming.
- Follow Mars Safety (HSE) and Quality Management (QMS).
- Execute daily operations of the care unit to ensure pet safety and well-being, efficient running of the facility and that quality data is gathered from the protocols and delivered to the business.
