Regulatory Affairs maximizes opportunities & minimizes risk by guiding business decisions based on regulatory insight and provide appropriate governance structures.

What are we looking for?

  • APAC factories produces a considerable volume of Royal Canin products to expand its cover into other regions in APAC and more. Portfolio availability on all those markets relies on compliance with the sum of their regulatory requirements, in an ever-changing internal and external environment: new suppliers, processes, products/services innovation, regulatory framework. Regulatory environment is evolving and require proper monitoring and influencing. Animal diseases outbreaks regularly lead to obstacles to trade.

  • The APAC Trade Regulatory Affairs manager is accountable, along with the markets Regulatory Affairs Associates (Japan,  Australia, New Zealand, HK/Taiwan, China and South Korea) to ensure trade compliance and trade facilitation for the factories network. He/she manages the resources and activities to maintain the business/regulatory Freedom To Operate and also create opportunities of competitive advantage of RC in APAC, defining the sourcing back up plans for key markets within the region; enabling portfolio innovation expansion; and shaping the best RTM sourcing strategy, leveraging existing or future trade-agreements, different routes and logistic Hubs.

  • He/she is part of the Global Team establishing and auditing standards, processes, systems, and the consistent application of Mars Petcare and Royal Canin policies that ensure regulatory compliance of ingredients, products, packaging, claims and ensuring appropriate level of engagement of Royal Canin with critical external stakeholders of public domain that include but is not limited to trade associations, local and central authorities, veterinary authorities and public bodies responsible for market regulations, particularly in the International Trade area.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Drive regulatory affairs workstream for opening new trade lanes into APAC markets

  • Lead our efforts for a compliant and available portfolio in all markets supplied from APAC & into APAC

  • Feed relevant S&OP with Regulatory Risk and Opps captured, technical and decision making forums (rPMR, rSMR, rTLT) In APAC

  • Deliver on Global Regulatory Affairs team Functional Action Blueprint for the APAC

  • Drive Royal Canin positions and Regulatory Affairs agenda on trade-related topics in line with APAC business objectives / OGSM.

  • Lead high level committees of relevant external local and regional bodies on trade-related topics and drive co-leadership in APAC national associations, manage government relations on trade-related topics

Context and Scope

  • Coordinate a Community of Experts (Trade & Regulatory Affairs associates in APAC markets), composed by indirect contributors, support functions and the markets;

  • Secure Change Management and Trade Compliance for critical markets in the region from APAC factories;

  • Lead site & finish goods registration in APAC to secure growth;

  • Provides internal expertise or coordinate appropriate external support to provide compliance to new businesses, diagnostics and monitoring tools, new services, D2C In the region;

  • Co-build and lead RC positions and Public Affairs influencing strategies, in link with MARS « Government Relationship Center » and local CA heads for the APAC markets ;

  • Drive specific RC public policy stakeholders engagement strategy for trade-related topics, including co-leadership in Pet food Trade Associations and other relevant markets and regional stakeholders

  • ensure trade compliance and trade facilitation for the factories network, including raw materials, packaging and finished goods;

  • maintain the business/regulatory Freedom To Operate and also create opportunities of competitive advantage of RC in APAC;

  • define the sourcing back up plans for key markets within the region;

  • enable portfolio innovation expansion; and

  • along with the regional Supply Chain team, shape the best route to market sourcing strategy for the APAC, leveraging existing or future trade-agreements, different routes and logistic Hubs.

Job Specifications/Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in Regulatory Affairs, International Trade, Public Affairs / Government Relations.

  • Excellent understanding  and working knowledge of nutrition and pet food law and regulatory frameworks.

  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English is mandatory.

  • M.S. or equivalentin a technical area, such as food science, veterinary medicine, food safety, chemistry, toxicology, nutrition, or other biological science and / or International Relations.
