Global BP and Demand P&O Director

Location : Aimargues (30mn from Montpellier, France)

Segment : Royal Canin

Contract Type : Permanent

Mars is a global organization comprised of dedicated individuals and brands united by a clear purpose. We believe the world we want tomorrow starts with how we do business today. Royal Canin is committed to transforming the health of cats and dogs through our products and services, embodying the purpose of Mars Petcare: Make a Better World for Pets. We firmly believe that pets contribute significantly to the well-being of humans, making the world a better place.  This is why we firmly put cats and dogs first in everything we do. A key enabler in achieving a significant impact on the health of cats and dogs is the dedication of passionate, purpose-driven associates in our global / HQ teams – including Demand (Sales & Marketing functions)

We are looking for a senior HR leader to take on a strategic global position that bridges two critical missions:

  • Lead the HR Business Partners team (BPs) for our global functions (such as Corporate Affairs, IT, Digital, Finance, etc.) to ensure alignment between business goals and people strategy, while improving the employee experience across regions.

  • Act as the strategic HR partner for our global Sales and Marketing functions, advising senior commercial leaders on organizational effectiveness, talent strategy, high-performance team development, and change management.

What are we looking for?

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, including 6+ years in senior leadership roles, ideally within a central, regional, or global HR leadership team.

  • Proven line management experience, including managing HR leaders across the full HR value chain: Talent, Business Partnering, and Organizational Effectiveness.

  • Strong comfort operating with senior stakeholders, including C-suite and function heads, with the ability to influence, challenge, and advise at the highest levels.

  • A successful track record in large, complex, matrixed organizations, and preferably within a global company context where cross-regional collaboration is the norm.

  • Excellent business acumen, strategic perspective, and communication skills, with the ability to translate people strategies into tangible business impact.

  • Sector expertise in health (human or pet) or nutrition is a strong advantage.

  • A solid understanding of the European HR environment—including cultural nuances, employment legislation, and labor market trends—is a valuable asset, especially for the France-based scope.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading transformation and organizational change, including navigating complexity and ambiguity with clarity and resilience.

  • Strong executive coaching and consulting skills, with the presence and credibility to influence diverse and senior stakeholders across countries and functions.

  • A data-driven HR mindset, with hands-on experience in workforce planning, position management, and headcount governance.

  • Fluency in English is a must; French is a strong asset given the role’s location and local stakeholder interactions.

What will be your key responsibilities?

1. Drive Business Strategy & Change Management

  • Partner with global Sales and Marketing leaders to ensure people strategy aligns with business priorities and anticipate talent implications of key decisions.

  • Co-design organizational structures to meet growth objectives, focusing on effectiveness, job clarity, and cost control.

  • Coach leaders on change management, support global team setups across countries, and apply our P&O operating model across the full employee lifecycle.

  • Own and lead headcount governance for Sales/Marketing (Demand), including approval tracking, role management, data accuracy in Workday, and visibility on workforce status.

2. Empower Line Managers within the HR Operating Model

  • Support line managers in delivering on their people agendas by leveraging the Mars HR model, including Early Careers, Talent Acquisition, Compensation & Benefits, Learning, Employee Relations, and more.

  • Enable cross-country talent decisions in partnership with local HR teams.

  • Build strong relationships with HR colleagues in France and key global markets; lead the onboarding of line managers into our HR processes and tools.

  • Support HR cycles such as goal setting, annual appraisals, employee engagement surveys, and performance plans.

  • Guide non-French managers in navigating French labor law, and partner with Employee Relations to manage interactions with local Works Councils.

3. Shape and Foster Culture

  • Act as a role model for the Mars Five Principles and our Associate Concept, onboarding leaders into our culture and ways of working.

  • Support global Sales/Marketing leaders in becoming culture ambassadors and ensure a healthy, inclusive work environment.

  • Promote inclusion across a highly diverse team of 30+ nationalities and contribute to the development of a thriving international campus in the south of France.

  • Facilitate or coach teams using our High Performing Collaboration (HPC) framework and follow up on culture and performance action plans.

4. Talent Strategy for Sales & Marketing (Global Demand)

  • Partner with regional HR leads and the global Talent team to lead key talent processes (succession planning, development reviews, talent discussions).

  • Build a diverse, future-fit talent pipeline across global and regional levels, with a focus on growing talent in the South of France.

  • Lead the “Talent @ One Demand Forum”, a 18-member leadership group supporting aligned talent decisions and unlocking next career moves.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration, Thought Partnership & Coaching

  • As part of the Global HR Leadership Team, provide strategic input into critical people and business decisions.

  • Collaborate with Finance partners to ensure alignment on people-related governance (headcount, cost control, talent investment).

  • Work closely with other HR leaders based on-site on topics such as manager capability building, policy evolution, audits, early careers strategy, compensation alignment, and more.

What can you expect from Mars?

  • At Mars, we believe in a relationship of mutual trust, dignity and respect between our company and Associates that is more meaningful than the standard employer/employee relationship.

  • As Associates, we can expect to be respected, supported and valued as individuals, to be treated fairly and equitably.

  • You will work in a multicultural environment (more than 40 nationalities) and where your dog will be welcomed by more than 100 other Associates’ dogs at the office!

  • You will work in a unique campus, which gathers more than 800 Associates working for: the international HQ, the French subsidiary, two laboratories, a kennel and a cattery with more than 200 cats & dogs, and finally the most important factory of the Royal Canin group

  • A unique and ideal work environment to become the leader in health through nutrition for cats and dogs!
