P&O Director - Hybrid / 60% On Site (Nashville, TN)
The P&O Director reaches up and down; it’s both a strategic and hands-on role leading and facilitating the planning and execution of multiple HR functions focused on associate relations, associate engagement, benefits & leaves, and talent development for both manufacturing and corporate associates, from the production floor to the executive leadership team. This role will lead the strategy for the People & Organization (P&O, also known as HR) function for the entire Company. Nom Nom, a division of Royal Canin North America, operates a standalone, end-to-end P&O function within its business unit.
You will be responsible for operating within budgets, applying, creating, and managing company policies, and managing internal HR systems. To be successful in this role, you should have extensive HR experience in leadership roles with breadth and depth in all aspects of talent acquisition and development, benefits, compensation, leaves, associate relations, business partnering, and hands on experience working with remote and non-local based associates.
This role reports to the VP of Business & Customer Operations, and will be responsible for a 5-7 person P&O team.
What are we looking for?
- 5-10 years of experience as a senior manager or director of HR in an environment that includes a corporate function and an hourly/manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in human resources management; SHRM PHR or SPHR preferred
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills with experience on a leadership team
- Strong consulting skills and ability to influence decisions to achieve a positive business outcome
- Expertise developing policies and programs to assist in building culture and engagement
- Experience with Human Resources Information Systems; preferably Paycom
- Knowledge of learning and development design principles and adult learning theory
- Solid knowledge of US labor regulations and understanding their application in solving business needs and ability to provide guidance; experience with California employment law strongly preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills, using a comprehensive approach with strong attention to data & detail
- Ability to effectively manage and work within ambiguity and prioritize business needs and resources
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Act as the voice of Associates within the organization, helping drive Nom Nom to be an employer of choice at every level, from hourly operations to executive leadership.
- Support the creation and execution of people strategies, lead change initiatives, and drive the talent agenda and engagement at a strategic level.
- Partner with business leaders to achieve goals aligned with the people agenda, provide thought leadership to the business and ensure associate advocacy.
- Define, roll out and manage a strong performance management and development process across the company, adjusting for key departments and conducting lessons learned annually to improve the process.
- Oversee all personnel-related matters within our manufacturing plants and at the corporate level, and ensure we use our resources responsibly.
- Drive a talent pipeline and strategy that supports growth and Associate development/engagement. Keep a “pulse” of the business and develop appropriate OD interventions that strengthen the health of the organization and enable a high-performing culture. Drive Line Manager capabilities initiatives, enabling them to develop Associates and improve engagement and team wellbeing.
- Lead annual employee engagement measurement and reporting.
- Leverage market data and experience to advise hiring managers at various levels on compensation and annual bonus structure implementation.
- Oversee Nom Nom leave & benefit programs and ensure associates have the resources they need.
- Work with partners throughout the Mars Petcare Ecosystem to align on business needs, compliance, and leadership development opportunities.
